This Chianti comes from the Masi family’s hillside estate in Rufina, just northeast of Florence, where they have been growing grapes since the early 1900s. Made from 95% Sangiovese and 5% Colorino grown on the area’s stony galestro soils. Fermented with about 20 days of skin contact, then aged for 12 months in previously used French oak. Classic Rufina: black cherry, red berries and violet, with good acidity, savory edges and firm but polished tannins. The 2021 vintage was particularly concentrated, with the estate calling it one of its strongest of the past decade.
