'J&J Produce is a partnership between Jake Wavrin and Jesus Zavala. Jesus and Jake met working for a large family owned vertically integrated operation in the lower Yakima Valley. Our farming project came about as a way to fully express ourselves as growers with complete autonomy and ownership of the decision-making process. Mother Nature still outranks us, but we're doing all we can.
We also view the local strawberry deal as a way to share with our customers how delicious strawberries can truly be. The large scale centralized strawberry production system shortchanges customers in both measurable and immeasurable ways. Most people haven't eaten a fully ripe strawberry in their life, which is a wrong we are trying to right.'
