The pork cooks low and slow until tender, while the cabbage softens into the broth and the apples break down, bringing their sweet-tart goodness to the whole blessed Fall thing. Carrots, potatoes, onion, roasted garlic, sage, thyme and plenty of black pepper round it all out.
