These are slightly more bitter in taste compared to white sesame seeds and much more intense in flavor- a nutty flavor but almost ‘burnt’ tasting, in a way. But in a nice way, if that makes sense.
We know sesame seeds are nutrition bombs but apparently black sesame seeds have more antioxidants and are higher in calcium and protein, so you cannot go wrong adding these in to your menus.
Try making a two-ingredient black Tahini: grind sesame seeds in a processor and then add some sesame oil.
Make a sesame-crusted tuna or tofu.
Make your own Togarashi shake to sprinkle over rice bowls and salads.
