Tavel is just downstream and across the Rhone River from Chateauneuf du Pape--a very warm area--and produces rosés with lots of moxie and plenty of colour, built to stand up to the robust and garlic-y cuisine of Provence. With blood orange and cherry scents, this wine also has suggestions of succulent herbs and lavender.
