Priorat is a wine region just west of Barcelona where the vineyards are on precipitously steep slopes of decomposing schist. The traditional grapes used are carinera (carignan) and garnacha (grenache). Robust and deeply flavoured, loaded with savory wild herbs and dried Mediterranean spices with hints of strawberries and cherries, too.
